Charles Pratt, born October 2, 1830. Made his fortune in the oil business
partnered with John D. Rockefeller. Founded the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Gave the
Watertown Free Public Library a trust fund in honor of his father, Asa. The Pratt Room is
located on the ground floor of the library. |

Captain Moses Stone, Jr., Revolutionary soldier, 1749 1803. His profession
was medicine and he was owner of the land that later became the Mount Auburn Cemetery. |

Josiah Stickney, 1789 1876. Became prosperous by his activities in trading,
whaling, and the sugar business. Held many positions on the boards of banks and railroads.
The grounds of the former Stickney Estate now belong to the Perkins School for the Blind. |
